REVIEW: Warm Up (Vicious 0.5) by Victoria Schwab

Warm UpRating: 3 out of 5 stars, Genre: Science Fiction/ Fantasy, Pages: 15, Level: Easy

Book Description:

It’s been 297 days since David died– and came back.

He may have survived the avalanche, but the aftermath has been far worse. His wife moved out, taking his son with her, and a devastated David hasn’t left his house since, terrified of the mysterious new power that followed him home from the ill-fated expedition.

After months in seclusion, David’s ready for a fresh start, and ventures out, determined to keep his power in check. But David’s power isn’t the one he needs to worry about.

It looks like Warm Up is a short story prequel to the novel Vicious by Victoria Schwab. It was interesting but I didn’t really understand what was going on. Is he a superhero? Is this like X-Men? Why would he come back from a near death experience with the ability/curse of burning everything he touches? It almost felt like a section of a chapter of a book. While it kept my interest, I’m not sure there was enough.
